About Ashley
Ashley Lauren Dorsey was born on November 11, 2003. Ashley was a brilliant light—an aspiring surgeon with a sharp mind and an even bigger heart. She excelled academically, chasing her dreams with focus and grace. Beyond her academic achievements, Ashley was a fierce and loving sister to her brothers and she was never too cool to hang out with her mom sharing laughter, deep talks, and music. Ashley was also a gifted cellist, graceful dancer, fearless skateboarder, and all things art enthusiast. Ashley lived fully and loved deeply. She was tragically taken too soon by a hit-and-run accident while skateboarding, but Ashley’s light will continue to guide us. The Love Like Ashley Project honors her legacy by turning pain into purpose, spreading kindness, and helping others live with courage, creativity, and love.
Our Mission
At The Love Like Ashley Project, our mission is to honor the vibrant spirit and legacy of Ashley by promoting youth road safety, creative expression, and compassionate living. We are committed to advocating for safer streets, inspiring young people to follow their dreams, and inspiring acts of love.
A key part of our mission is the Ashley Lauren Arts & Music Fund, which provides scholarships, instruments, and creative resources to young people with a passion for the arts.
Upcoming Events
The Love Like Ashley Project plans on doing an annual Skate Safe Jam every fall in memory of Ashley. The proceeds will go towards educating our youth about road safety and to hopefully one day open a concrete skate park where youth have a safe place to skate for years to come.
We also aspire to have an annual Strings & Pointe Gala in the spring! This will take a lot of planning and community help. We think it's the perfect way to honor Ashley. All proceeds for this event will go to the Ashley Lauren Arts Fund, which helps youth in our community to pursue their dreams with arts.
